Virginia Lyme Disease Task Force To Hold Hearings In March

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s appointed Lyme Disease Task Force held its first public testimony hearings March 1 in Virginia Beach and Richmond. Scores of residents testified about the detrimental impacts of Lyme disease and the problems of finding prompt diagnosis and treatment. Three more public testimony hearings are scheduled in March. The Task Force needs to hear from as many residents as possible from throughout Virginia.

Governor's Lyme Disease Task Force Holds First Of Two Hearings

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s newly appointed Lyme Disease Task Force held an expert testimony hearing Tuesday, November 30 at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville. The first of two hearings, attended by nearly 200 patients, was designed to gather important information about the accuracy of diagnostic tools and efficacy of treatments. In addition, the Task Force seeks ways to increase awareness of this devastating disease to aid Virginia residents and medical practitioners.

The Institute of Medicine Committee on Lyme Disease and Other Tick-borne Diseases: The State of Science is holding a workshop on October 11-12, 2010 on the critical needs and gaps in understanding the prevention, amelioration, and resolution of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.  Lyme patients and their families need a good turn out a this meeting.  The workshop is free.  Please plan to be there!

Lyme Disease Forum Set For May 3, 2010 In Loudoun County

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th) will host another free forum to educate area residents about ticks and Lyme disease at 7 p.m on May 3, 2010 at Heritage High School in Loudoun County.  More than 300 people attended a similar forum in August of 2008 at the Loudoun County School Board office.
