Chapters
Central Virginia
Responding to the growing needs of Lyme patients in Virginia, the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association has established a patient/caregiver support and education group in central Virginia.
The chapter serves Lyme sufferers and supporters from the counties, cities and towns around Lynchburg including Roanoke, Farmville, Amherst, Lovingston, Charlottesville and Halifax County.
The group welcomes everyone with an interest in Lyme and tick-borne diseases. The Chapter meets the 2nd Saturday of the odd months, (MARCH, MAY, JULY, SEPT, NOV) at the Central Virginia Community College, Campbell Hall in Room 4507, from 2 to 4PM.
The group is facilitated by Joe LeBlanc. Joe is a board member of the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association. He has a long and impressive history of educating the public on Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases.
Mr. LeBlanc has been researching Lyme disease since late 1994 when his wife Betty first became ill. Both he and his wife have talked to many other Lyme sufferers, not only in central Virginia but have received calls from all over the US. Joe has been on local radio and in the past has had WSET interview he and his wife in their rural country home. Interviews about their struggles with Lyme have also appeared in newspapers over several years, as well as Letters-to-the-Editor. Joe has presented Lyme information at the local Amherst Rescue Squad "Health Day".
A 3 part series on The Lyme Controversy was presented on WSET in Lynchburg. It raised a lot of interest which prompted Joe to form a NATCAPLYME chapter to make more people aware of the difficulties facing them and their families.
