Chapters

The National Capital Lyme Disease Association is concerned with the physical, emotional and social impact on people and their families diagnosed with Lyme and tick-borne diseases.  A network of NatCapLyme chapters in the District of Columbia,   Virginia and Maryland offers meetings, events and education.  Support groups  vary in their focus with emphasis on support, education and social gatherings.  If you are seeking a support group check our listing below.  Please call or email the group’s contact person to confirm date, time and location of the next meeting.

Washington D.C. Chapter

Monthly support group meetings of our Washington D.C. flagship chapter take place from 2-4 PM on the first Sunday of the month with the exception of January, July, and September.  These meetings are held at Sibley Memorial Hospital, 5255 Loughboro Road, N.W., Washington D.C. 20016-2634.   See the map below for directions.

Central Virginia Chapter

Responding to the growing needs of Lyme patients in Virginia, the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association has established a patient/caregiver support and education group in central Virginia.

Hampton Roads Chapter

The Hampton Roads Chapter of NatCapLyme welcomes all those in the greater Tidewater area, including the Eastern Shore, more northerly points on the Peninsula (such as Williamsburg), and northeastern North Carolina, including the Outer Banks who have an interest in lyme disease and other tick borne infections. Monthly meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of each month from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.. An open format will be used which will enable everyone to discuss issues, ask questions and share information.

Montgomery County Chapter

In an effort to respond to the growing needs of Lyme patients in Maryland, the National Capital Lyme & Tick-Borne Disease Association is establishing a patient/caregiver support group in Montgomery County, MD. NatCapLyme support group meetings are held at Sibley Hospital in Washington D.C. on the first Sunday of the month. Lyme patients and their families now have an additional choice and more flexibility for support in the region. There is also a monthly chapter meeting in Fairfax County, VA. Richmond Area Chapter

The Richmond Chapter serves Lyme patients and their family members from the counties, cities and towns around Richmond. Cities and suburbs include Henrico, Sandston, Chesterfield/Chester, Bon Air, Glen Allen, Short Pump, Petersburg, New Kent, Williamsburg, Tuckahoe, Mechanicsville, Midlothian, Colonial Heights, Charlottesville, Laurel, Highland Springs, Highland Park and Hopewell.  Counties include Henrico, Caroline, Goochland, Powhatan, Amelia, New Kent, Charles City, Fluvanna, Prince George, Dinwiddie, Nottoway, Spotsylvania, King and Queen, James City, Sussex and Surry.

Shenandoah Valley Chapter

In an effort to respond to the growing needs of Lyme patients in Virginia the National Capital Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Association is establishing a patient/caregiver support group for the central Virginia area of the Shenandoah Valley. The Shenandoah chapter will cover the area from Front Royal to Roanoke.

Southwest Virginia Chapter

Responding to the significant increase in Lyme disease in Southwestern Virginia and the needs of its Lyme patient community, the National Capital Lyme Disease Association has established a patient/caregiver support group in Blacksburg, VA. The Chapter will be named: "Southwest Virginia National Capital Lyme"  and will serve the counties, cities and towns in the area Blacksburg and in the area North to Salem and South to Bristol and Galax, West to Pearisburg and Rocky Gap and East to  Floyd and Meadows of Dan.
